Stop Woodfin from pursuing forced annexation and taxation of the people of Buncombe County

Welcome to StopWoodfin.org

Sovereignty of the people
All political power is vested in and derived from the people; all government of right originates from the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the whole.
-- Article 1, Sec. 2., NC Constitution.
The critical mission of StopWoodfin.org is to prevent the forced annexation of our area of Buncombe County by the Town of Woodfin.

  You Can Help!

• Speak to your friends and neighbors about what forced annexation really means. There are still plenty of people who do not know or understand forced annexation at all and they need the facts.

• Many volunteer opportunities are available, both ongoing and short term; Contact us at: StopWoodfin@gmail.com.

• Contact the various municipalities in Buncombe County, the Buncombe County Commissioners, and your legislators in Raleigh. See below for contact information.

• If you are currently a resident in the Town of Woodfin, you should know that, in the not-too-distant past, Woodfin has spent a great deal of your tax dollars to pay for expensive lawyers, consultants, surveyors, administrators, and big-time Raleigh lobbyists in order to use aggressive force upon your Buncombe County neighbors. Call and tell them of your displeasure at your tax dollars being used in such a corrupt manner. Tell them that if they continue to abuse the money they have taken from you that you will do everything in your power to see that they are never re-elected again. Tell them to stop forced annexing! (828) 253-4887

• If you are currently a resident of any municipality that pursues forced annexation upon your neighbors in unincorporated areas, follow the above advice for residents in the Town of Woodfin. Call the town or city where you live.

• Contact the Buncombe County Commissioners and tell them to stand up for their constituents.  They have no excuse to duck and hide like they have been doing.

• Contact your state legislators and tell them that you expect them to work this next session to change the bad annexation law and give the people back our voice in matters of our private property rights.  Using civil language, please tell them not to listen to the NC League of Municipalities but to listen to their constituents.   If they've been doing a good job and working FOR us, don't forget to say thanks.  Refer to the front page for message ideas.
